Both VIVA and Facebook are private companies that have every right to use marketing strategies to get more customers. Nothing against that. The problem comes when, in the guise of “democratizing”, “being inclusive” and “connecting the ¾ of the population who are not connected to the internet”, they release a product claiming it’s something it’s not and professing it will solve a problem it won’t.
